Lycoming-Clinton County, PA Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)

Together We Can Improve Crisis Response

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a specialized program that trains law enforcement officers and first responders to safely and effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises. CIT training combines de-escalation techniques, recognition of mental health and substance use issues, and knowledge of community resources to reduce use of force, improve safety for all involved, and connect people to appropriate treatment and support. By fostering collaboration among police, behavioral health providers, emergency medical services, and community stakeholders, CIT strengthens local crisis response systems and ensures people in crisis are treated with compassion and dignity.
